Arvind Kejriwal to break his upwas today at 5 pm

Arvind Kejriwal to break his upwas today at 5 pm
Announcing that he would end his upwas tomorrow, Arvind Kejriwal said, “For the first time such a huge door-to-door referendum has been undertaken in Independent India, where more than 10.52 lakh people have registered their protest on a single issue. People of Delhi have expressed their agony on the rising prices of bijli and pani in the capital and signed on protest letters to Shiela Diskhit pledging that they would not pay their inflated bills.”

He further said that from tomorrow onwards, Civil Disobedience movement launched by Aam aadmi Party would enter into the second phase. Bijli-pani connections of households whose connections were disconnected due to non-payment of inflated bills would be restored to take the fear out of the hearts and minds of delhi-ites against government and private companies. Explaining the importance of April 6th i.e. tomorrow he said, “April 6, 1930 ko Gandhiji ne namak aandolan shuru kiya tha. Kal humara bhi aandolan dusre charan me jayega. Meri Delhi se appeal hai ki saare galivale milkar jao aur jin jinki bijli kati hai unka connection jod do. Karyakarta se appeal hai ki apne ward me jaaye, vaha ke logo ko ikatha kare aur jinka connection kata hai unka connection vaha ke hi logo dwara judvaye. Isse logo ke man ka darr nikalega. Kal April 6 hai, shubh din hai, kal sham ko 5 baje main apna upwas tod dunga.”

Emphasising that though his upwas would end tomorrow but the aandolan would continue, he said “Kal ke baad bhi humare karyakarta har itvaar ko gali gali jayenge apne ward me, aur har us gharka jiska connection kata hai, uska connection jodenge. Hum janta ke sath unke har such dukh me khade honge. Kal mera upwas khatam hoga, lekin ye aandolan zari rahega…..Ye ek tarah se bahut bada referendum hai. Par zada badi baat ye hai ki hum iske dwara garib se garib, antim aadmi tak pahuch paye hai.”

He said, he does not expect that all 10.5 lakh people who have signed the protest letters would not pay their bills, but this shows the anger and frustration of people. In several places where we went, one person in one family signed the letters. This means, that the total number of people the movement has reached out to is 30-35 lakhs. This figure indicates that entire Delhi is suffering due to inflated bijli-pani bills. In last elections, Shiela Diskhit received roughly 25 lakh votes. Arvind Kejriwal urged Shiela Dikshit to listen to the voice of people if she believes in democracy and reduce the tariff of bijli and pani in the Capital.

Anna Hazare in a letter appealed to Arvind Kejriwal to end his upwas. In his letter he appealed, “Zada samay anshan na kare, tandarust hoke fir desh ke liye kaam karenge. Yatra ke karan me nahi aa pa raha. Lekin me dil se keh raha hun ki aap ab anshan tod de."

Earlier in the day, a sarva dharma prarthna was held today in Sunder Nagri. People attended the prarthna sabha in large numbers.

On 14th day of upwas, Arvind Kejriwal blood pressure in the morning was 110/80, pulse 73, Sugar 123, ketones 3+ and weight was 56.5 kgs.
