L V Prasad Eye Institute hosts ReDx: Engineering the Eye Workshop

L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), in collaboration with Tata Centre for Design and Innovation and MIT Media Lab, today inaugurated the ReDx: Engineering the Eye Workshop as part of the Design Innovation Series from LVPEI’s Innovation Centre – Srujana, which is funded through the support of CYIENT (formerly Infotech Enterprises Ltd). About 100 Engineering and Design students from all across India will work on prototypes for their innovations at the workshop from July 13th to 19th, broadly divided into four tracks: Imaging the eye, Programming perception, Reinventing vision and Apps & Algorithms. Stellar faculty from LVPEI and MIT Media Lab will mentor the participants. The keynote address at the inaugural of the workshop was delivered by Professor Raghunath Mashelkar, Chairman, National Innovation Foundation – India, and an eminent scientist who believes in inclusive innovation. Present on the occasion were Dr. G N Rao, Founder-Chair, L V Prasad Eye Institute; Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director, CYIENT; Dr. Virender Sangwan, Director, Srujana Centre for Innovation, LVPEI; Mr. John Werner, MIT Media Lab and Dr Balasubramanian, Director, Research, LVPEI.Delivering the Keynote address Prof. Raghunath Mashelkar, paid tribute to Dr GN Rao’s concept of LV Prasad Eye Institute and its tag line of ‘So that all may see.'
