.@emraanhashmi launches India's First Cashless #Cancer Care Hospital project for poor in #Bengaluru

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi known for films like Murder and The Dirty Picture inaugurated first-ever open cancer care hospital that will treat (BPL) patients across India free of charge. The initiative is part of a newly launched NGO called NEW INDIA, by a Bangalore-based business couple Vijay Tata and his wife Amrita Tata. They announced the launch of their dream project, ‘New India’, a self-funded NGO, and gifted Rs 200 crores towards building of cashless cancer care hospital for the underprivileged. As the first initiative, 50 acres of land worth Rs 100 crores has been pledged in Attibele-Anekal Road to the NEW INDIA charitable trust. Another Rs 100 crores will be used towards construction of a super-specialty cancer care hospital.



Inaugurating the NGO, the Bollywood actor said, “I have very closely seen the pain which cancer patients and their family goes through. The initiative to create new hope for poor cancer patients is worth appreciating.”
Ayaan, the first child of Emraan and wife Parveen Shahani, was diagnosed with first stage cancer at the age of four in early 2014. Ayaan was treatment in Canada and fought back cancer and defeated it. Later Hashmi wrote a book called 'The Kiss of Life' about the hardships he and his wife faced when their son was diagnosed with cancer.
